Mícheál

Director of BÁC le Gaeilge

My name is Mícheál and I’m an Executive with BÁC le Gaeilge. I’m from Tallaght, in Dublin. Although I was raised without Irish, I was lucky to attend Irish Primary and Secondary schools. My love for the language properly began when I was given the opportunity to go to the Gaeltacht in Connemara in transition year as a “cinnire”.
I completed a BA in Business and Irish and then a Masters in Business and Information Technology in Fiontar in Dublin City University.
Now, I immerse myself in the language in any way I can. I play football and manage the adult men’s team with Na Gaeil Óga – an all-Irish club in Dublin since 2010. I spent a large part of my working life with multinational companies where I saw the opportunities and the desire people have to use their languages and express their culture.
I use this experience to encourage people to use whatever Irish they have daily with BÁC le Gaeilge.

Erin

Executive with BÁC le Gaeilge

My name is Erin and I’m an Executive with BAC leGaeilge. I’m from East Wall in Dublin 3. I was born and raised in a family with no Irish at all. When I went to a Gaelscoil I noticed that there was a big divide between the world of Irish and the world of English, but I didn't see a way into the world of Irish for me at such a young age. I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the life of Irish when I was studying at the University of Galway. It was here that I noticed that these speaking opportunities came from nowhere except the community. I was looking to use my experience in Galway in my hometown. That is how I came to BÁC le Gaeilge.
